Kari Stubbert, MA, LPC, NCC

I provide a warm, empathic, and inclusive space to process, grow, and heal.

Where others might see problems, symptoms,or pathology, I see a multi-faceted system of adaptation, navigation, and survival. It is my honor to come alongside you in this work, to intentionally slow down and help uncover patterns, and to welcome all parts of you to the journey.

Life can be stressful, challenging, and overwhelming at times. You may be feeling stuck, uncertain, or burnt out and deeply desire change, but are struggling to make the change you want to experience. You may be in a transition point in your life, and are unsure of what to do or how to claim your power. You may have experienced discrimination, microaggressions, racism, and systemic or gendered oppression.

At Just This Counseling, we will work together to help you discover, or rediscover, grounding and presence. It is from this empowered space that you will then be able to explore and process past experiences, trauma, and the stories and patterns you have been living from in order to experience healing and growth for yourself and move forward with hope and purpose.

I am here to facilitate and support you in the process, to hold space for you with curiosity, warmth, and empathy.

About me

Welcome -- I’m glad you’re here! My name is Kari Stubbert, MA, LPC, NCC. Having gained valuable experience working in university and community mental health settings, I opened my own private practice in 2024. I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Bushnell University, am a Nationally Certified Counselor with the National Board for Certified Counselors, and am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC, #C8070) in the State of Oregon. While my Master’s degree is from Bushnell (a private Christian university), my practice is unaffiliated with any religion.

In my practice I follow the Code of Ethics established by the American Counseling Association, and the Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and Therapists. I am a current member, and served professionally on the board of the Oregon Counseling Association (ORCA) from 2022-2025. In 2024 I was honored for this work with ORCA’s Distinguished Service Award, given in recognition of meritorious service on behalf of the Oregon Counseling Association and its members.

Background & Approach

Prior to my counseling career, I worked in administrative, development, and teaching roles within non-profit and educational settings. I also prioritized the unpaid and often invisible labor of raising and caregiving my young children. Born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska, I am the parent and stepparent of three children (and one adorable mini goldendoodle) and live in Eugene, Oregon with my husband. I thrive by moving my body in nature, and am a runner and marathoner. I also love to garden and cook, and can quickly get absorbed reading memoirs, literary fiction, and the latest in psychology and neuroscience.

The presence of my first therapist was healing and inspiring at a critical point in my life. I had never before sat with someone so tuned in and attentive, who saw me, who was able to pull out the important questions, and who remembered my stories and patiently walked along with me to the other side. It is my desire to create a unique space of processing, healing, and growth for you, similar to those that have been provided for me.

I utilize an integrative, anti-racist, and trauma-informed approach in my work, drawing from Person-Centered, Internal Family Systems, Attachment Theory, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Somatic, and Mindful Self-Compassion techniques in my practice. I am also an EMDR trained therapist, and integrate that modality into reprocessing work for adverse, challenging, or traumatic experiences.

Why “Just This?”

The name “just this” speaks to what I am looking to create with you during our sessions. It is about what I want to encourage in myself, and help others build in their lives.
